Are you able to support and encourage a young persons growth and development, building their confidence to strive to be proficient in being the best they can be whilst learning new skills. Do you have experience working with children with additional needs? Could you be the motivating mentor type of person to help and support this family?

We are currently working with a family in Newcastle who have one child aged 12 years who has special needs. These needs are related to speech and language and developmental delay, currently non verbal, this young person is learning to talk. There are also difficulties with gross and fine motor skills. This salaried position offers a minimum of 35-40 hours per week plus 2 overnight stays per week.

The duties will include:

  • Attending the to daily needs of this happy, cheerful young lady
  • Supporting with regular tasks such as getting ready for school
  • Planning and preparing of healthy and nutritious meals
  • Household tasks such as washing, cleaning and ironing
  • Assisting the young lady with speech therapy as well as supporting with reading, learning of Maths, English and Science
  • Other daily routines such a bath time,dressing

Training will be provided to better assist with speech therapy, fine and gross motor skills and other related activities.

It is important the chosen manny/nanny/personal assistant knows the difference between observing, teaching and guidance as opposed to entertainment and stimulation.

The role will suit someone with a calming manner, someone who is physically fit and active, someone with good experience of supporting interaction with special needs and who can encourage a learning by doing approach. The family are looking for someone who can become a companion to the young lady, someone who will become an additional member of the family and who is looking for a long term position.

Bonus attributes would include:

  • A Spanish speaker
  • A keen cook - this young lady enjoys cooking and would love to learn to cook like a TV chef

A live in person would be preferrable. A driver with full UK driving licence is essential and there may be a car available for use.

The position is available to commence as soon as possible.
