Things to do - fun to be had - Half term and Halloween in South London

Half term is here! Do you have any plans? How are you going to keep the kids occupied this week? Or are you still wondering what you are going to do? Check out a few ideas below as well as a few Halloween ideas to keep the little monsters entertained.

Why not visit Eltham Palace and Gardens in Greenwich, SE9 5QE for some spooktacular activities. Dress to impress in your best scary costumes. Why not have a go at the creepy crafts or even carve a pumpkin. Visit between 11am-4pm. Click on the link and take a look for more information.

Do your kids love to dance? Do you love to dance? Check out the Halloween Disco for parents and under 9's with The Little Disco Company at The Ivy House, Nunhead, SE15 3BE. All scary costumes welcomed, creepy and spooky dancing a must - come for 10.00am, 11.30am or 1.00pm. For more information take a look at their website via the link above.

Visit the Horiman Museum this Shocktober for the Annual Halloween Fair on Saturday 28th October and Sunday 29th October between 10.30-4.30. Lots to see and do, check out the Pumpkin Carving Demonstration, adventure through the Spooky Halloween Trail, brave the Wild Fang Creepy Creatures Caves, create a Halloween Pumpkin Headdress and more. For more half-term ideas why not visit the Polka Theatre in Wimbledon, SW19 1SB for The Little Red Riding Hood on the main stage. There are two performances one at 11am and one at 2.30pm on Wednesday 25th October to Sunday 29th October. Recommended for ages between 3 years and 8 year olds, with some performances for all ages welcomed. Don't forget to book in advance tickets cost £13.50, concessions are £10 plus £1.50 booking fee.

Visit Dulwich Picture Gallery this half-term -- lots of exciting things happening. (BUT NOT ON A MONDAY!)

Anyone remember the Moomins? A favourite of ours! Created by Tove Jansson a Finnish writer and illustrator. Dulwich Picture Gallery are inviting you all to go and celebrate the work of Tove Jansson and take part in the creative workshops. There are drop in sessions between 2pm to 4pm 24th October to 27th October. Standard price for adults and children go free. For more information click here

Staying with the Dulwich Picture Gallery - their half term schedule looks exciting with a variety of drop-in sessions and workshops for different age ranges:

Two day workshops for 6-9 year olds. Huggable Heroes takes place on 24th & 25th October at 10am to 12.30pm. Cost £35. 

Two day workshops for 10-12 year olds. Create a character takes place on 26th & 27th October at 10am to 12.30pm. Cost £35. 

Or how about exploring  the magical tales of the Moomin characters after dark with a live perform on Saturday 28th October? Starts at 6pm to 9.30pm. Cost £20 per child and accompanying adults go free.

Friday 27th October

  • 10.30am - A Bottle of Happiness by Ehsan Abdollahi and Pippa Goodhart. 4 years +
  • 2.30pm - The Movie Making Book Workshop with Donna Bamford and Dan Farrell. 6-11 years
