Happy 4th Birthday Kids Deserve the Best

This time of year always is exciting for me as it gives me chance to reflect where I am now and what I have achieved. A lot has happened this year with some interesting twists and turns.

We are delighted to announce that we have now completed our 4th full business year and are very much looking forward to the excitement of starting our 5th year and whatever adventures this will bring. We have gone from being a small working from home business, to an Inspire Network award winning business, then to a business with responsibility for an apprentice as we welcomed Vicky to the company in September. I always knew when the time came when I could not do absolutely everything, that I would grow with apprentices - giving a young person the chance to learn a good work ethic and gather some valuable work skills and experience. And I am delighted that Vicky has settled in very well providing admin support. She is very organised, has a lovely manner and has picked up a good understanding of how we work well. I do hope she will be with us for quite some time. Oh..... and yes she does like purple!

And now for the next change…….

I am delighted to be able to say that on 1st December WE MOVED!! We have relocated our office into The Fuse Media Centre in Prudhoe and will be based there for the long term. The Fuse Media Centre is supported by Tynedale Virtual Community College and is behind the grounds of Prudhoe Community High School.  We will be their first long term tenants and the idea being to work more within the local community, being on hand to offer advice and support to their Health & Social Care and Childcare students, with the option of supporting with CV writing, interview skills and more than likely work experience for the Year 10 students. There will of course be the ongoing advice and support we already provide to families and nannies throughout the whole of the North East as well as the working with and supporting local child and family friendly businesses.

I always advise people to trust their instincts - and this feels like it is the right thing for Kids Deserve the Best. (although I am a teeny bit sad that the walls of my office are not purple!)

I am very fortunate to have support from some of the fabulous Nannies who are registered with Kids Deserve the Best – some whom have willingly given up their time on a voluntary basis to help with the odd exhibition and helping out at any Baby Shows - I do believe the trick is to appreciate and respect them and they will do the same for you.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who is there for me – without your kind words, help and support I don’t really know where I would be.

I have also come to realise that I do use some words very frequently – my favourite words seem to be fabulous, support, lovely and purple!

So from the warmth of our new base.... 'Happy Birthday Kids Deserve the Best' and now for some cake! (better not get any crumbs on the lovely carpet!)
